The 20th anniversary of Dallas Black Dance Theater – DBDT DanceAfrica festival and marketplace was nothing short of spectacular as over 30 groups headlined the sunny October 4th event to the admiration of all attendees. The Klyde Warren park, downtown Dallas venue also experienced a fashion show, tagged, African Fashion Experience VII.

The Trendy Africa initiative was headlined by fashion house, PDC Styles, who have partnered with Trendy Africa over the years. Authentic African apparels and accessories were put on display.

The tradition of DanceAfrica was created in 1977 by famed dancer and choreographer, Baba Chuck Davis, at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM). Founded with the goal of bringing awareness to African culture, the festival is now America’s largest celebration of African dance and culture with multiple organizations hosting regional DanceAfrica events across the nation.
