Oscar winner Mahershala Ali joins Jurassic World

Just when we thought the Jurassic World trilogy had concluded, actor Mahershala Ali is joining a new installment. Titled “Jurassic World Rebirth,” this latest installment picks up five years after 2022’s “Jurassic World Dominion” and stars Ali as Duncan Kincaid, a man on a mission to secure genetic material from the world’s three most massive dinosaurs.

In the film, the planet’s ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs and the few remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived. The three most colossal creatures within that tropical biosphere hold the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind and Duncan and his team are on a mission to secure the drug.

When the mission intersects with a civilian family whose boating expedition was capsized by aquatic dinos, the team stranded on an island comes face-to-face with a sinister, shocking discovery that’s been hidden from the world for decades.

Directed by Gareth Edwards, the film is currently in production and the cast includes Scarlett Johansson, Luna Blaise, David Iacono and Audrina Miranda.

The Jurassic World trilogy concluded with each film surpassing $1 billion at the global box office so it’s no surprise the studios want to unearth another movie.

Ali, who won the Academy Award for Actor in a Supporting Role for his performance in “Moonlight” has been in a string of successful films that include “Leave the World Behind,” “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” and “Hidden Figures.”
